1. Overview

This page outlines the Privacy Policy for the URLs jonsealy.com and haywirebooks.com (“Website”). Our data collection policies are intended to conform to all applicable laws and regulations, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We respect your privacy regarding any information we collect from you (“Usage Data”) or personally identifiable information you may provide to us (“Personal Data”). We have developed this Privacy Policy so you may understand how we collect, use, communicate, disclose, safeguard, and otherwise make use of your information.

The terms “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Jon Sealy and/or Haywire Books. The terms “user,” “you,” and “your” refer to site visitors.

2. Data We Collect Automatically (“Usage Data”)

Usage Data refers to information that third-party companies we engage (“Service Providers”) may collect automatically when you visit our Website. We use Squarespace for our web development and hosting, and Squarespace has an analytics dashboard that shows anonymous site visitor information such as your location, whether you use a mobile device or desktop, which pages you visit, how you interact with the site, and similar analytics information.

We use this information to monitor and analyze the Website, make improvements for the user experience, and further our marketing efforts. We cannot see personally identifiable information from this dashboard.

3. Tracking Information (“Cookies”)

Our Service Providers may collect data automatically through cookies on the Website. Cookies are small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing the site. We may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them). You may change your cookie preferences by adjusting the settings on your browser (see your browser help for how to do this).

Advertising

Advertising platforms such as Facebook and Google Ads may collect Usage Data or cookie information for the purpose of behavioral remarketing, custom audience generation, and the development of targeting criteria for other audiences.

Links to Other Sites

Our Website may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services, and we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

Affiliate Links

Links on this Website to third-party retailers may be Affiliate Links. A code within the embedded link tells the retailer that our Website was the source of the referral, and the retailer may install a cookie on your device. If you choose to purchase the product from the retailer after clicking the Affiliate Link, we earn a sales commission from that purchase. We do not have access to any Personal Data you may provide the retailer.

Do Not Track

To the best of our knowledge, our web Service Provider Squarespace currently does not recognize “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals under the California Online Protection Act (CalOPPA).

4. Data You Provide (“Personal Data”)

*Please note that payment details are held by our third-party payment processors. Squarespace is a secure system, but use caution when inputting personal information. We do not have access to credit card numbers or other financial information you provide.

5. Use of Your Personal Data

We respect your privacy and strive to use Personal Data for only the purposes you provide it. The most common reasons we use your Personal Data are to:

6. Data Security and Disclosures

We maintain security measures to protect your Personal Data from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure. Please remember, however, that no exchange of data over the Internet or electronic storage can be guaranteed as 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Storage

We will use and store your Personal Data securely on our servers for as long as applicable. We review the Personal Data we hold at regular intervals and delete permanently any Personal Data which is no longer necessary. If you contact us to unsubscribe or request we delete your Personal Data, we do so at once.

Law Enforcement Disclosures

We may be required to disclose your Personal Data in response to valid requests by public authorities such as law enforcement or a court. We will disclose the data as required by law or in our best judgment.

  • ask us to change or correct your Personal Data;
  • ask us to delete your Personal Data;
  • object to the processing of your Personal Data;
  • ask us to restrict the processing of your Personal Data;
  • withdraw any consents you have given us to the processing of your Personal Data; and
  • express any concerns you have about third parties’ use of your Personal Data.

Upon request, we will change, correct, restrict, or delete your Personal Data promptly.

8. Children

This Website and our services are aimed at adults, and we do not knowingly collect any Personal Data relating to children aged under 18 years old. If you are under the age of 18, please do not provide us with any of your Personal Data, including your email address. If you are a parent or guardian and are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We review our privacy practices on an ongoing basis, and we may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Please review this page periodically to ensure you are aware of any modifications.
